Bibia began not in a studio or showroom, but in the quiet corners of refugee camps where the hum of sewing machines first met the rhythm of hope. It was created by the Center for Natural Resource Studies, with the support of UNHCR, rooted in a simple belief that when women are given the tools to create, they can begin to rebuild what conflict and displacement have taken away.
In Cox’s Bazar, Rohingya refugee women gather to learn, practice, and refine their skills. They cut fabric, guide threads through machines, shape patterns, and slowly regain confidence in their own abilities. Each stitch is more than a technical step. It is patience. It is resilience. It is the quiet rebuilding of identity and independence.
The jute, cotton, and colors in their hands become more than materials. They become expressions of culture, memory, and strength. Through structured training and dignified work opportunities, women who were once dependent on aid begin earning through their own craftsmanship. Income becomes stability. Skill becomes confidence. Work becomes pride.
Today, those same hands craft Bibia’s bags, garments, and home pieces that travel far beyond the camps. Every item carries a human story, shaped by perseverance and care. Each purchase directly supports sustainable livelihoods, transforming humanitarian assistance into long term opportunity.
Bibia is more than a brand. It is a bridge between tradition and contemporary design, between displacement and belonging, between vulnerability and self reliance. It exists so that refugee women can stand on their own feet, earn with dignity, and know that their work has value. Through Bibia, they are not only surviving. They are shaping a future stitched with strength, culture, and hope.
Our mission is to empower refugee women to build self-reliant futures through their craft. We create opportunities where skills turn into livelihoods, dignity replaces dependency, and tradition becomes a bridge to the world. Through ethical and sustainable practices, we strive to make every refugee artisan’s creation seen and valued.
Our vision is to make Bibia the most recognized refugee-made brand in Bangladesh and across the world. We want Bibia to stand as a symbol of resilience and craftsmanship, so that when people hear our name, they see the beauty and dignity of products created by refugee hands.
